The petition is the preparatory stage for a "European Citizens' Initiative" contemplated by the Lisbon Treaty, and request the Commission to take action on immigration through the promotion of legislative changes aimed at:

  •      Amending the Dublin Regulation in order to make it more fair and responsive to the current situation and the emergency experienced by Europe in the past few years;
  •      Transfer some of the competences related to management of asylum seekers and their requests from member states to the European Asylum Support Office (EASO), thereby strengthening this EU agency;
  •      Create progressively a permanent European Border Guard Team which would support the police of those member states located at the Southern and Eastern borders of the EU, also in the context of rescue operations aimed at saving migrants in danger;
  •      Create more legal immigration channels into the EU.

The theme is today - and will be more and more - one of the most important that we face.

The campaign is led by a team that already represents the North, South, East and West of the EU, moved by the sole aim of building a stronger Europe and restart the values that unite us.

Consider the outline of the EU as common borders is an ambitious political goal.
