CALL FOR A POLITICS OF QUALITY
A process of collective and participatory construction

Different political cultures, a common platform

Sunday, May 2 ended the participatory path that, from December 2020 to mid-April,

has contacted the National Centers of MPPU in the world and alongside them many friends, in 25 countries (in Asia, Africa, North and South America, Europe), for the drafting of a written text, therefore, several hands.

The path led to a first draft and then a second one, to respond to the many contributions that have arrived. Also the translation work in 7 languages has favored the possibility of measuring the distance between different political cultures, although oriented to the same horizon, the unit.

Why an Appeal? And to whom?

The pandemic has made evident an epochal change already in existence, bringing out closely related global and local issues. Today the global context cannot be addressed without a more intense cooperation, but above all without a more mature vision of the present and future of humanity, shaped by the interdependence between generations, cultures, worlds of life.

In this context, politics seems to flounder… That’s why we asked ourselves: is it possible to identify the profile and specific functions of a policy worthy of its highest mission, that is to serve humanity?

We are convinced that there is a political vocation that concerns everyone, but with this Appeal we have chosen to address in particular those who live political activity as a main commitment: our Today’s voice is addressed to them.

“Call for action”: dialogue translates into action

It seems to us that one of the most consistent fruits is, in the end ;Appeal in itself, but the laboratory of dialogue and commitment in the territories we have inaugurated in these weeks “to love and heal the world”.

How to continue now?

The Appeal wants to be a starting point, a challenging strategic platform to relaunch quality political action starting from the daily choices. And therefore, to translate effectively into specific sector agendas the convictions we have expressed: employment, health, environmental protection, migration, financial markets, youth education communication and digital, international cooperation, art and culture…

We have the initiative!
