Sport experts and members of the Advisory Council of Russian International Olympic University, Lamartine Pereira da Costa, from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), affirms that the model of Mega Olympiads has failed given the event’s financial instability in the country. The demands in investments and costs have grown creating an economic and social imbalance, just like in London, Beijing, Athens, and now in Rio de Janeiro. A solution to this concern has been identified by an expert. His hypothesis is to allow the Olympiads to perform in more than just one city at the same time, maybe even in different nations. At “Casa Brasile’s” Olympic Games, athletic basic information of the town has been discussed. André Fernandes, the president of the Regional Council of Physical Education (Cref), has reassured the importance on the incentives of sports to children; a method that could build and form local talents. According to Fernandes, the results of the Brazilian Olympiads is worth celebrating. However, many of the athletes receive few, if not, no support at all, including the absence of a long term sportive project. Nevertheless, a change towards the culture of sports is needed. This change could be realized by building training centers, allowing athletes to improve their performance to a higher athletic level. It’s been decades that such model has been used by the United States, a traditional champion in winning medals by its Olympiads. After all this being said, Professor Costa has affirmed that sports should be practiced by the whole population and when a young talent is discovered, it should go through specific training to reach a high performance level. Having a long term project should solve this specific problem on the athlete’s competency level.
