At the Angelus today, Sunday, May 2, the Holy Father, responding to the invitation of the Politics for Unity Movement (MPPU), expressed his closeness to the moment of historical relevance that the MPPU, celebrating its 25th anniversary and its dedication to launch the Call towards a politics of quality, a document that is the result of a participatory and collaborative path written by politicians committed in institutions, cities, parties and diplomacy, but also by officials and researchers, women and men of civil society, young and adult citizens.

 

The Call presents the main elements of a political action of quality, local and global at the same time, able to respond to the deep crisis of the moment. It was inspired by the charism of Chiara Lubich who, starting from the drama of the world war, gave herself to “reconcile the irreconcilable and unite opposites”. Its launch will take place at 2 p.m. today with an online event that will be translated from Italian into English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Hungarian, Slovakian, and Polish.

This event is part of the United World Week 2021, promoted by the ‘United World Project’ (main project of the NGO New Humanity – Focolare Movement). The title, which gives rise to 9 days of a fully international program is: Pathway #daretocare – dare to care – with a particular focus on Active Citizenship and Politics for Unity.
