The relationship between Germany and Israel had a rough start given Germany’s role during the holocaust of 6 million Hebrews. In Jerusalem 1977, J. Gerster, a German politician and member of the Konrad-Adenauer foundation, completely dedicated himself in developing German-Israeli relations as well as the relationships between Israel and Palestine. After the Ben Gurion-Adenauer convention on “restoration” (1952) and the start of diplomatic relations in 1965, only personal rapports flourished resulting to sharing of similarities between Municipalities (today there are 100) and intercultural exchange programs in University. However, reconciliation continues to need initiatives in overcoming open wounds of history.
