Democracy gives us the duty to be coherent in the policies we put in place and to be attentive to the notion of freedom, justice and dignity for all without distinction. If building walls on our borders becomes the solution to the problems of immigration then humanity is in failure and we need a new form of education according to Azeez.

Azeez Sadeq, 25 years old, is a student at La Mache School where he is studying International Business and Development M1. He is also an ambassador for United World Project and Living Peace International, a speaker and a volunteer in several initiatives. Of Franco-Iraqi origin, he has been living in France for 7 years. After 5 years of experience in schools and youth training programs where he still gives his testimony on immigration, he proposes education as the remedy for all the words caused by today’s politics. He is more than convinced that a new system of education that allows for cultural exchange would bring about a new type of political debate.

“The education received both at home and at school is very important for each person. One accompanies the other. Without education, a person becomes worthless, without personality and consequently without respect for oneself and for others. Even the principle of freedom has no place, because we will not respect our own freedom or the freedom of others”, according to Azeez. He also adds that if we have an educated generation, problems such as wars, racism, immigration, climate change will not exist because people and nations will have learned to dialogue, to listen to each other and to look for solutions together in mutual respect. We will have a quality policy.

Quality politics is a call by the political movement for unity at its 25th anniversary celebration in May 2021, to address global issues by reconsidering the essence of politics. Azeez believes that politics is the background of every citizen’s daily life, but in order to succeed, it needs to be attentive to the cries of the citizens, especially those who are not often visible in society.

“We need politicians who are not detached from reality. We need politicians who are not detached from reality, people who realize that politics is a power that allows to take care of everyone without exception. This requires a special sensitivity, I am sure, that is what the world needs. Once, a French president said that there is work and that it is enough to cross the road. A comment that I found undignified because he doesn’t know how hard it is to find a job especially when you are an immigrant and your first name is Mahmood or Azeez. Your application for a job can be easily rejected. Imagine the pain of a person who has been through this when he hears this kind of speech coming from the President of the Republic.”

The way in which the European Union is responding to the migration crisis shows how weak the policy has become and how it is looking for a way to move away from its own vocation, which is social inclusion: to promote the well-being of all, in the interest of all. Azeez believes that young people are the hope of a quality politics if they are listened to, accompanied and supported. As a citizen in France but also in the world he gives his contribution where he goes.

“I was born in Iraq, I lived through the war and I don’t wish it to anyone. That’s why I try to do my best to sow change. I am just a witness to the youth, but it’s not just that. I carry a world behind every word, various experiences and a life rich in diversity that I am proud to have lived because it has opened my mind. Whoever listens to me receives this diversity through my words and it does not remain indifferent to him. This is my talent and this is what I use to make a difference. There are young people like me all over the world who are doing different things for a better world, I’m sure. Says Azeez.
